I have helped hundreds of senior professionals over the last 30 years find their ideal role and learn to thrive in the new complexity they face. As a confidant to the C-suite I particularly relish finding that inner fire that makes you excel. I can help you go beyond ‘Leadership’.
I started out on my own in 1999 – it was a big career transition from helping organisations as a headhunter by ‘changing personnel’ to helping key people to grow. I’ve evolved and now help mid-career professionals develop and pursue a career strategy that leads to the CEO role – or to the role that best suits their talents. When you are at your best, hundreds or thousands of others benefit.
I’ve been in and out of writing blogs, presenting ideas and providing developmental programs. I’m recommitting to my blog where you’ll find weekly insights into the new paradigms of work, careers, leadership and deeper topics that I find relevant.
Your Executive Journey
Your career – whether you’re in the ‘C-suite’ yet or not – has a cycle. My blog, Your Executive Journey, is where you’ll get ideas for action to accelerate your movement around that cycle and to break through to the next level. I’m keen to help you find your most rewarding role, start your next role well and sustain your effectiveness once there. My work develops leaders, but there’s more to executive effectiveness than leadership. I can help you fully embrace an influential role in its entirety and really nail success, then translate this into high-impact engagement across the organisation.
I write with my own take on things. I’m a coach informed by a multi-country life and my experiences as headhunter, accountant, scientist, sailor, artist and traveller. Sometimes that eclectic experience is exactly the alternative perspective that clicks with an executive. (And when it’s confusing – well, we always resolve the confusion and both learn something). My topics include
- Developing a career strategy and translating that into concrete action
- Clarifying your ideal role, what you bring to it and what you want from it
- Wellness, from a professional perspective
- Understanding and refining your how you develop as an Executive mindset
And sometimes I throw in a surprises, drawing lessons from my personal passions, the visual arts, music, sailing, national cultures and science. These different aspects of life enrich each other and are what make life worth living!

I’ve been involved with executive change for most of my career. After qualifying with PriceWaterhouseCoopers in London and working with the firm in Hong Kong, I spent 15 years in global executive search with Russell Reynolds Associates. Based in Hong Kong and then Australia, I worked on assignments for roles in over 20 countries across high technology, banking and manufacturing.
I started my practice in 1999 because I was drawn to helping organisations through focussing on key individuals. I’ve since consulted to a wide range of organisations, from multinationals to boutique consultants. I’ve helped executive teams and I’ve helped individuals in many different roles. Because my approach is about life in the round, I’ve gained qualifications in counselling & psychotherapy, socio-analysis, governance (I’m a past Fellow of the AICD) and creative processes. I started with a Physics MA from Oxford University.
