I am curious.
Always have been.
Curiosity is more than human; it’s how nature thrives.
It is the powerful partner to fear, nature’s other survival urge.
Curiosity prompts the question, ‘I wonder…. ‘ and leads to one place. The Unknown.
I have to keep an eye on it, as curiosity goes wrong too. A child curious about everything packs away knowledge in every moment, knowledge that could be essential to life. An adult has to balance infinite curiosity with finite time, energy and resources. The infinite, immediate amount of information now available is a seductive, ghastly trap for unfocussed curiosity.
However, focussed curiosity about something in particular? That’s a force that opens up the world.
Curiosity about strangers. About the human condition. About the universe. About the stunning fact of being alive, for a bit, in the infinity of things. Or, simply, curiosity about how someone else understands a problem that’s stumping you.
What are you curious about, how does it feel and how can that curiosity energise your future?
